Social Media Optimization: Strategies
For all of these sites make sure that you include your name, a link to your website, and 1-2 keywords that are specific to your business. Participating within social media websites is all about connecting and sharing information with various companies, prospects, customers and other industry professionals... BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE!
#1) Participate in varios social media websites:
- Create page in facebook, myspace, and others if applicable
- Start posting pictures with keywords inside the descriptions on Flickr
- Create and keep your professional profiles within "LinkedIn" and other sites updated
- Start to Twitter and make your tweets regular and relevant to your industry.
TIP: Link Building The more links the more popular your website is in the eyes of the search engines. Make sure to include links everywhere you can (with good taste of course). |
This is time consuming work. It should be done by someone that is a competent writer (no spelling or grammar mistakes) and that someone needs to know enough about your products and industry to make intelligent conversation. Over the years these comments will become your company’s history on the internet. So, you had better make sure that you are leaving a history that represents your company well.
- Choose a real person to interact with social communities
- We search out and provide details for recommended posts/threads/discussions suitable for injecting an informative response that directs/makes people aware of your product/service
- We provide the link and example copy for you to approve or revise for us to inject
- We create new accounts in order to post these responses on your behalf and make the post. We send a link to you for confirmation.
- We search sites similar to where the Adsense postings are located
- Create an account and post a generic, non-sales oriented statement
TIP: Blogging Consider just blogging about what your customers are doing. Look at their business and blog about their products. If you know your customer personally, then take a moment to blog about their favourite sports team or hobby. By blogging about the customer, you increase the chance that they will link to your blog and even share it with their friends and colleagues. |
When we say blog about your customers and their passions to get new work, we mean that people search the internet for things they are passionate about (work related and personal). If you can blog about something they are passionate about, you will increase the chances that the search engines will send these prospects to your blog to read what you wrote. So, it's important that you write intelligently and passionately. If you can think about blogging as an online journal that the search engines keep a record of, then you're half way there. Keep in mind that he search engines like to eat content and they like it fresh. So, blogging at least once per week is essential. Make sure to include links in every blog post to a specific page (or 2) within your website that is relevant.
Include features icons that will let readers share the articles with various community and social bookmarking sites, such as:
- Slashdot
- Digg
- StumbleUpon
To put it simply: Search engines are keep track of videos as well. This isn't as difficult as it sounds. All they do is read the tags that are saved with each video and keep that in their memory until someone searches for those keywords. Some ideas for what you can make a promotional website video about:
- Company introduction video
- New products + services (even new projects)
- Common and/or technical industry processes (how-to's)
- Industry gossip
- Thank you video's for customers
- Testimonials
#5) Twitter: How to use it for your business
Talking on Twitter can be the #1 way of staying in touch with friends, colleagues, and your valued customers. The trick is to have something interesting to say and people will start to follow you. Some of the best uses for Twitter we've seen:
- Notifying customers of sales, specials and other promotions on a daily or weekly basis (limiting the promotion to only your Twitter followers)
- Similar to a blog posting, you can Tweet about anything. Try this: for each new customer and/or project, Tweet the company name, the product, and the first name of the contact
- Like other discussion type services, regularly search for Tweets and look for opportunities to join the conversations (Tweetscan does this automatically). For example: someone might ask their Twitter community for help building a website... and we could offer advice and possibly close a contract
